According to a statistic prepared by the World Health Organization in 2013, about one in three women in the course of their life has been subjected to violence of some kind, especially physical and sexual. Statistics that, unfortunately, do not seem to be falling at all. An investigation by the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights -FRA- in 2014 revealed that, by interviewing 42,000 women belonging to the 28 Member States of the European Union, violence against women -and in particular gender-based violence that it affects women disproportionately – constitutes a violation of human rights and a very serious public health problem. As part of the survey, women were interviewed about their experiences of physical, sexual and psychological violence, including incidents of violence perpetrated by their partner, as well as about sexual harassment and persecutory behavior and the role of new technologies in experiences. of abuse experienced by women. From the data that emerged from these researches, the WINGS project is based, to which the Territorial Committee UISP Ciriè Settimo Chivasso adheres as partner and of which a kick off meeting was held starting from 11 February in the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv . To represent the Territorial Committee were the Director Roberto Rinaldi and the Project Manager Francesca Di Feo, who were really enthusiastic about the guidelines illustrated in this first transnational meeting between the different realities involved, which sees the Judo sports association as its leader. Castelletto Academy. In fact, WINGS has the objective of promoting and encouraging participation in this particular sporting discipline, especially targeting women and girls who are at risk of violence or who have been victims of it throughout their lives. “The choice of judo is not accidental – explained Di Feo- since the latter, like the oriental disciplines in general, combine physical and mental well-being and that in this specific case helps to manage emotions and fear especially in cases of particular tension. Through sports, knowledge and moral qualities are further developed, which are essential to help weaker subjects to become active members in their communities. In fact, WINGS will also produce a Manual of Good Practices and video material in order also to plan – and consequently implement – a study that will allow the collection of data and that will strengthen the cooperation network between the various partners participating in the project to implement awareness on this issue “. A theme, that of violence, very dear to the Ciriè Settimo Chivasso Territorial Committee, which has been collaborating with the Commission and the Department of Equal Opportunities of the city of Caselle Torinese for three years to organize the Liber * Di Muoversi event on the occasion of the 25th November, World Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. “That of Caselle, but also other similar initiatives, will be an excellent means to promote both social inclusion and to focus attention on the fight against violence against women, always promoting sport as a right for all citizens, without distinction some ”instead commented Rinaldi.
